Trinity Medical Vascular & Endovascular CareTrust the Vascular Experts
Our experienced vascular surgeons perform procedures at the award-winning Aortic & Vascular Center at Sisters Hospital. As part of this nationally recognized team, we choose to practice at the largest state-of-the-art vascular facility in WNY. We offer treatment for a range of conditions, including:
- Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
- Carotid Artery Disease
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Varicose Veins
- Spider Veins
Vascular Screening
As common as many vascular conditions are, people often don’t realize they have them until it’s too late. Talk to your doctor about persistent symptoms, such as achy legs, high blood pressure, hard to heal sores, swelling in the legs or ankles, or any unexplained chest pain. Individuals over 50 with a personal or family history of vascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol should also consider vascular screening.
The benefits of early intervention with any vascular disease can make a significant difference. Vascular screening is painless, non-invasive and generally covered by insurance for those at risk. Contact our skilled vascular team for more details.

Total Care from A to V
The Aortic and Vascular Center at Sisters Hospital includes access to two hybrid operating rooms, enabling us to provide comprehensive care for both minimally invasive endovascular and open surgical procedures. Should the need for open surgery arise, you’re already in the right place––a fully-equipped operating room with highly trained surgeons who know what to anticipate.
An on-site imaging center enables us to make fast, accurate diagnoses, critical for when timing matters. Our vascular lab is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Testing Laboratories, which certifies quality in vascular diagnostic testing. As a member of the Vascular Quality Initiative, we have access to national vascular diagnostic data to benchmark progress locally.
“We don’t think of ourselves as last resort, we think of ourselves as vascular medicine. So, we try to treat people before surgery. We try to help them get on the path, so we don’t need to operate.”

Pioneering the Most Advanced Treatments
Dr. Joseph Anain, Sr., MD, FACS is the founder of our practice and a pioneer in vascular surgery for Western New York. Establishing the first angiography suite at Sisters Hospital in 1967, Dr. Anain placed the first implantable peripheral stent, and was principal in performing percutaneous selective catheterization directly into the blood vessels.
In 1999, came the first FDA-approved endoluminal aortic stent graft for the treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurysm in our area. That year, Dr. Anain’s son, Paul Anain, MD, FACS, joined the practice. Together, they created Catholic Health’s first carotid stent program for carotid artery disease at Sisters Hospital.
We’ve since added three expert vascular surgeons to our Trinity Medical Vascular & Endovascular practice, making us the largest team of board certified vascular surgeons in Western New York.
We’re proud of the standard we’ve set for vascular care in Western New York, from access to two hybrid operating rooms at Sisters of Charity Hospital to the most advanced aortic and vascular treatment options available. Innovation and ensuring the best in patient care is what drives us.
“You really want to come into a Center for Excellence, and that’s what we’ve helped establish between Trinity Vascular & Endovascular and Sisters Hospital. That team approach of board certified vascular surgeons, who are trained in taking care of exactly those problems. Not generalists, but true, trained specialists with that board certification.”
